The popular trading card game has announced its annual partnership with the Extra Life charity, a fundraising program dedicated to children's hospitals. The latest initiative includes a new Secret Lair drop titled Secret Lair X Play-Doh: Squishful Thinking, which presents four popular Commander format cards with charming art based on the classic Play-Doh modeling compound.
Meet the Featured Commanders
Greensleeves, Maro-Sorcerer first appeared in a Dominaria United Commander and is a popular choice in land-based and ramp strategies due to its capacity to generate token creatures. Polyraptor was first introduced in the dinosaur-themed set Rivals of Ixalan and is played not only in tribal decks but also in combo strategies that leverage its copying ability. Wurmcoil Engine and Academy Manufactor are both frequently seen in Commander decks—the first for being a timeless colorless value creature, and the latter for its combo potential.
Affordability and Charity Backing
None of these cards are overly costly (assuming you aren't shocked at a $15 Magic card), but these are appreciated reprints even for those uninterested in the Play-Doh-inspired art. All four cards features the ability to produce tokens, reflecting the imaginative play that Play-Doh has encouraged in generations of children. The company will additionally back the charity through a fundraising livestream on the streaming platform on November 8, running from morning to evening.
