The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle Fans Are Hoping For

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was collaborating with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole place where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be usable in Fortnite. That said, whether players will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield vehicle everyone is eager to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the famously flawed automobile the patriarch designed himself in the 1991 episode "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in the tenth season. Rather, fans are getting the Simpsons' standard beat-up four-door, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an recognizable element of the series. And for players who analyze Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

And it's not the only cosmetic from the series coming to Rocket League. The event will also include a set of objectives to unlock more goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a official announcement, the challenges will require players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, gather boost canisters as if your navigation is set to the Simpson residence, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!"

While the complete list of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it seems fans will also get rims featuring a television displaying the show's opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event lines up with the major The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which includes a brand-new playable area of Springfield, as well as a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event launches on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
