Zohran Mamdani Vows a 'New Era' for New York City in First Address
In a first day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani pledged to “reinvent” the metropolis, ushering in “a fresh chapter” and an audacious commencement to his tenure.
A Groundbreaking Figure
The 34-year-old political star, who was a virtually unknown state assemblyman, is the city's first mayor born in Africa. He additionally marked a milestone by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Islamic holy text.

Mamdani concluded his remarks with a simple statement: “The work has only just begun.”
